Workshop: Urban Climate Resilience: The Role of Law

Workshop: Urban Climate Resilience: The Role of Law

The University of the Western Cape’s Global Environmental Law Centre (GELC), together with the Tilburg Sustainability Center, Tilburg University, is hosting a workshop on Urban Climate Resilience: The Role of Law. The workshop is sponsored by the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law and aims to bring together legal and governance scholars to critically consider, through relevant case studies (city examples) what is required from legal frameworks in order to enable city authorities to promote or enhance climate resilience.

We are proud to have a full programme with interesting papers on the topic from all over the world.  We also have a keynote speaker from UN Habitat. The papers presented at the workshop will be published with Edward Elgar in an edited volume forming part of the ‘Elgar Studies in Climate Law’ series. While this event is mainly intended for the authors and selected researchers, there are a few spots open for attendance. Anyone interested in urban and climate resilience from a law and/or governance perspective can contact the GELC at This email address is being protected from spambots.
